As an American myself, I would not have thought of high tea, but my friend Fiona had that idea with this one. I like it!
My card here is a conglomeration of ideas I found on the net - don't you love how we can take a bit of this and a bit of that and make it our own?
I count eight punches used here - can you find them all? The purses are made entirely of punches, which is quite cool. My girls are already planning their invitations for next round of birthdays with these - only 11 months to go and counting.
The floral purse is made with the Circle Circus set. That's one that I haven't used a lot yet, but will do. I like it a lot.
Keep well, everyone, and get better if you are under the weather. Seems it's really going around.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Circle Circus, Stemp Sayings
Colours: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Close to Cocoa
Punches: Eyelet border, scallop edge, 1 3/8 circle, 3/4 inch circle, large and small oval, curly label, round tab
This is a page I did up that was featured in the new, beautiful New Zealand magazine, Innovation. It's available at Scrapbook stores and online scrapbooking outlets. It's worth getting your hands on a copy! Very well done magazine.
This page features the Fresh Cuts stamp set, one of my favourites from the new product release in April. I have emboss resisted the "patterned paper" on the right hand side, adding in the colours I wanted to make the image pop.
The flowers are dyed with the ink pad refills (see a tutorial here) and half back pearls (also from the Pretties Kit) are placed in the centres.
I love my Sofie.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Fresh Cuts $46.95, Together Forever $46.95
Our last Challenge Team artist for June - using Windsor Knot and the Build a Brad kits.
Tilly sent over three projects! She got busy!
The first card is a real cutie with a fun envelope-like fold, secured with an Old Olive ribbon. She was very innovative and used those really tiny stamps from Short and Sweet on her Build A Brad.
Stamp is out onto the Windsor Knot dsp, and colour in with markers and the white gel pen. Punch out with the 1/2 inch circle punch and adhere to the top of your brad. Rather than using the clear dome that comes in the kit, Tilly chose to put a tiny crystal on top for the cherry. Cute!
The next card uses a retired beach set that I adored for the short time we had it. Now check out how Tilly has adhered the So Saffron Windsor Knot and the striped print together, with a torn edge in between. She's then stamped on both layers to create the sand and water or sand and sky look. How cool is that?!
The details with the circle punches and the ribbon is quite nice as well.
The last little treasure uses the Windsor Knot just as a peek of a mat, which is a very nice way to use stripes. She's repeated the stripes in the Build A Brad placed in the corner. I like the use of the white gel pen here, too, Tilly!
Our four artists have done such different and neat things with just a few pieces of the same Windsor Knot papers and Build A Brads. Keep watching next month for the next installement!
We made a set of four simple, but effective, cards with matching envelopes and then a reasonable straightforward box for gift giving. There's even still more room in the box for a few more if you wish.
In keeping with this month's theme, too, I've used a Build a Brad on the front of the box, giving a nice weighty finish to the front . . . which also matches perfectly, of course!
This idea is such a neat gift to receive and a reasonably inexpensive one to make as well.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Three Little Words
Colours: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss, Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Other: Raspberry Tart Designer Series Papers, Build a Brad, various ribbons, crimper, oval punches
My page features some neat Faux Techniques, Faux Silk, Faux Stitching, and Faux Buttons. Can you find them all?
The Faux Silk Technique is quite fun and easy, although it did take me a few minutes to get all those little flowers coloured in. All you need for this one is some tissue paper and a good glue stick.
1. Stamp on your tissue with a waterproof ink if you are going to colour it in and any ink if not. Colour if appropriate using a blender pen.
2. Scrunch up the tissue into a ball and flatten it back out, but not totally flat. You want a few wrinkles.
3. Spread glue with the Stampin Up glue stick all over a sheet of card (I've used whisper white here) and stick the tissue down over it. You can wrap excess around the card or trim to fit the card.
*By the way, I haven't put the journaling on this yet. Madeliene and I had a big run-in that afternoon, and I didn't want to writen when I was rather upset still. Storm over; I will add it today.
Supplies Used
Stamps: Sprinkles $28.95, Once Upon a Time $39.95, Perfect Princess $46.95, Pefectly Pretty Wheel $13.95
Colours: Bashful Blue, Perfect Plum, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Other: Five Petal Flower Punch, 1/2 inch circle Punch, White Gel Pen, various ribbons, Mat Pack, Perfect Plum Marker
Elaine's take on June's Challenge Team supplies is two different cards with two different styles. The first is quite clean and vivid, using emboss resist on So Saffron Card, which is quite clever. Although that Windsor Knot paper can be interpreted as quite masculine, she's prettied it upw ith a bow and flowers. The six brads and big bow add a great balance!
Her second project has more of a textured feel to it with lots of ink sponging and layering up of stamp images. Elaine has roughed up the Windsor Knot here by tearing around the edges and then inking heavily with the Chocolate Chip, which really gives a nice look!
Don't miss out on this one! I only have a few tins left, so when they are gone, I can't make up any more kits!
June's class offers a beautiful Altered Tin using the Urban Garden papers and the Upsy Daisy stamp set. You'll receive the tin, all the papers plus extra for making cards or items for inside the tin, brads, ribbons, templates, a pearl, a pen to alter to match, and complete directions with photos to complete your project.
The cost is $35 including postage. You will need either the Upsy Daisy stamp set at $39.95 OR another similar image of your choosing. Order your kit and start creating a beautiful gift or keepsake!
Many of us LOVE to do 6x6 pages because they are so QUICK and not a far jump from doing a card!
I've used the Trendy Trees wheel in Chocolate Chip across the bottom and then added a bit of colour using the Stampin' Pastels. We don't always think to pull those out, but they are quite effective here.
The Trendy Trees stamp set is a slightly bigger tree than the wheel, and I used that for the embellishment, punching out the tree top with the Boho Blossoms Punch. That sure was easier than cutting out those tiny leaves!
Each artist was given a selection of Windsor Knot papers and Build A Brads. Can you see them on this layout? Ness has been very creative with her supplies!
The mat for the photo is part of the Windsor Knot series. Ness has layered it on a Chocolate Chip Textured card (tone on tone), but cleverly made a differentiation between the two by distressing the edges for a textured white edge.
The tree leaves are also cut from the Windsor Knot papers and then blinged up with a scattering of microbeads.
Ness has used just the domed stickers from the Build A Brad kit and framed her journaling block with them. She's added some stickers or rub-ons to the domes for a dash of colour as well. Very nice, Ness!
I hope you know when I am late with my blog posts that I'm not ignoring you - I've just been going full steam!
This last Saturday was a fantastic day of learning, training, and inspiration with a good portion of my demonstrators around New Zealand. A big thank you to all who both helped and made such efforts to be there.
I wanted to share one of the projects we did for the day here, too. I made up this card (not bad for 11:30pm night before?) as part of our service project for the day for everyone to sign. We had a few cardst there (to be shared in later posts) intended to be sent to a few people who don't get thanked enough. I hope the recipients enjoy them and feel the sincerity that went into them.
I am going along with my Creative Challenge Team Theme (say that three times fast) and used the Build A Brads here, which were just perfect for this very large card. With the DSP on them, they really add such an elegance. And you always have the perfect thing for your project!
Simply use the 1/2 inch punch and stick to the top of the brad. Then cover with the bubble sticker (included) to finish it off. Easy!
Here are also some photos of my ladies hard at work - aren't they lovely:
Here is a beautiful card she made for me! Isn't it great? This was a gift for being awarded New Zealand Demonstrator of the Year for 2009. I appreciate so much all your encouragement and support.
Who doesn't love Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze together? Not anyone I've met so far ~
This is called a Pyramid card, one I've seen a while back, but have never made myself. I like it! Something a bit different and fun!
This month each team member received a couple of Build-A-Brads and a selection of Windsor Knot papers. Check back each week during June to see how each team member interpreted her challenge!
Comments and cheers for these ladies is most welcome!
Pam has used here her beloved Office Accoutrements set - very nice Pam! And I like how she's made the closure for a fun fold on this card. Very creative!
I know many of you are waiting to hear how the weekend went!
First of all, it was a fantastic weekend and I am so glad that I ended up going over to the Gold Coast to compete. I went with a fabulous team of Kiwi women, led by the gorgeous Ali Gascoigne. It was really a neat thing to go as a group and to support one another.
Saturday was a huge competition for the Australian Natural Bodybuilding Federation with something like 160 participants. I feel very honoured to have won third place in my Figure category as the women there were all so beautiful.
Sunday's competition was smaller and I was placed with a second place trophy and a fourth place medal in two categories. The other ladies on the Kiwi team placed very well - you can see all the results at www.gofigure.co.nz. Know that NZ was represented well over the weekend!
I felt good about both outcomes and mostly I feel good about acheiving my own personal goals. What's next - I'm not sure. I will mull it over with my most trusted advisor and decide next week what the next mountain will be.
I've just put a back shot on here because I don't want to be offensive to anyone. The costumes are teeny weeny!! If you want to see a few more, email me.
Thank you all for your loyal support and cheering me on when I want to collapse! Now back to stamping!
