I've been writing this blog post for a couple days now . . . school holidays and still being a wee bit sick has truly distracted me from my usual routine!!
This layout is the one I presented at Senz last month, and it was a hit. I love it it too:
I wanted to do a Vintage Style layout, but with more clean lines and less "clutter" for this one - and always always always making sure the photos are the centre of focus.
The decorative strip up the left hand side is made up of a combination of strips of printed papers (Love Letter series) and die cuts next to a roll of the Music Notes wheel.
The Spunch spiral Notebook Border Punch is quite cool for scrapbooking - that's the I've done along the tag to look like notebook paper.
A nice mix of ribbons and lace in the tag finish it off. I also challenged myself to use vellum on this one. Stamped with the Artistic Etchings set, it makes a nice backdrop to the photo.
On the the photo corner I've just used a Little Leaves Die, an Antique Brad, and a heart punch.
The leaves and the vellum are sparkled up just a little with a brushing of the Champagne Shimmer Paint - a beautiful "nude" shimmer.
Next scrapbooking class is August 9th in Bucklands Beach and August 18th on the North Shore. We will be doing a gender-neutral Beach Page. Book in today!

I've been down and out with a bad cold the last week on top of school holidays, so that's why I"ve been MIA. However, I was very happy and well on Saturday when we had our Auckland Winter Extravaganza. This is the project I presented, inspired by the lovely Pam Jorgenson:
I was very impressed with all the ladies - completing this in about 40 mintues! Goes to show how well you all cooperate and share and help, too.
The technique here is to use markers to ink up the images, giving us some ability to mix and blend the colours right on the rubber.
The glitter and tile technique is made possible using the fantastic Adhesive Sheets in the Autumn Winter Mini - great value for money!
I'll be teaching this project tonight in Papakura if you care to join us!!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: French Foliage $37.95
Colours: Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, So Saffron, More Mustard, Tangerine Tango
This is one of my favourites from the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue - and this sample is taken nearly directly from the book itself. The Idea Books are excellent sources for project ideas and inspiration!
There are quite a few steps to this one - lots and lots of layers - but all simple techniques. I love how the butterfly turns out on this one:
$2 from every set is donated to Breast Cancer research - order it today in wood mount and pay the clear mount price!
Off to school today - last one for the term. Yippee!

This Journal Book is a project that was shown to us at convention last year or possibly even the year before. I made a 6x6 version of this last year, too.
I'm going to a birthday party today for a friend who is also recently engaged, so I thought this would make the perfect gift for her.
I failed to take a photo of it, but I stamped each page with a little flourish as well. Just that little extra two minutes of time put in will make each page special to write on.
The paper flowers are excellent for stamping on - easy to customize for any project!
My favourite technique on this project is the En Francais background and how it's partially stamped and faded a bit in areas.
1. Ink up the stamp
2. Place the cardstock onto the stamp, face down, gently.
3. Walk your fingers around on the cardstock, just pressing in this and that area. voila!
I will be teaching this project along with another vintage project in the Vintage Techniques class next Monday July 18th. cost will be $25 due to the cost of the Chipboard Book. Book in here; we'd love to have you along for class!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: En Francais, Vintage Vogue
Colours: Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue
Other: Paper Flowers, On Board Chipboard book, Subtles Buttons, Basic Pearls, Rhinestone Brads, Linen Thread
Happy Friday! This is a cute project using the Create A Cupcake and the Cupcake Punch from the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue.
Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz are not only a tongue twister but a sweet combination.
We used two embossing folders here. The Tulip Border Embossing Folder's design is brought out further by patting it down with the Whisper White ink pad.
Cute and easy!
Have a wonderful weekend! I'm doing an extra day of my sewing course tomorrow (learning how to grade trouser patterns) and then I'll be home designing my project for the Auckland Extravaganza July 23rd. Would love to have you there!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Create a Cupcake
Colours: Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz, Rose Red, Old Olive
Other: Cupcake Punch, Tulip Embossing folder, Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon, Modern Label Punch, Subtles Brads, In Colour Designer Series Patterns
The Scrapbooking Class attendees challenged me last month to present to them a "young masculine" layout for July. And for a mother of three daughters, it was new territory.
Affection for the subject, however, brings about inspiration. As well as the gorgeous swap from Miriam Thomas (a 6x6 layout that I based this one from):
One of the benefits of using stamps for scrapbooking is the ability to create your own "printed paper" to match the theme and colour scheme of your layout perfectly. Here we've used the Extreme Elements stamp set to create a grungy look (as requested).
I kept mine quite light, but we did also stamp the same images in varying amounts on the twill. Twill is great for that - sort of a masculine "ribbon" but also you can stamp and dye it to suit.
Word Play is one of my favourite stamp sets and is just fantastic for scrapbookers. Looking at it again last night during class I had an inspiration for another masculine layout. And each of the sayings has the potential to be embellished, as we've done here.
I was so proud of the ladies! Not a single one of them slipped and slided on the acetate with their stamping! (Which was really good because I didnt' have any spare pieces. Phew!)
The title was fun and easy to do. We used the Bigz Alphabet with chipboard and Basic Grey Cardstock. I fiddled quite a lot with these taking them on and off . . .I didnt' want to cover Bayley's feet nor his cute belly button. Got there in the end!
If you'd like to make this layout, please book in for a class. And next month in the Bucklands Beach Class (August 9th 7:30pm) we will be doing a gender-neutral Beach Page. Everyone in New Zealand has beach photos - join us!
Wow! I started this post on Friday and here it is Sunday late afternoon!! I just got back from watching the girls at their cheerleading competition this weekend. It's moments like those that a mother is so very very very proud!!
Now, on to the project!! This is a beautiful tag album inspired by Delys Cram's creation shown to us at Convention in Melbourne a few months back. (She hasn't yet put her version up yet, but this is what I came up with from memory):
This entire album was made with just a very few supplies - half of a Christmas Cheer Simply Scrappin' Kit plus some ribbon, brads, and four envelopes.
Each of the pages has a slot in the bottom, which allows for a tag that pulls out. But the cool thing is that it won't pull all the way out! ( or fall out for that matter)
This was a fun way to use the buttons. I actually did sew these one, but you could just use glue dots, too.
And the big flower is using the Flower Folds Die - a really big one! I used the smaller flowers from this die on this.
The numbers are from the Timeless Type Alphabet. Besides the ribbons and brads, all the rest of the embellishments are from the Simply Scrappin' Kit. Wow, those kits go a loooong way.
