Word Play & Well Worn Scrappy Layout

I am going to share this layout with my scrapbooking class this Saturday in Nelson - I am so looking forward to the day!

This is one I shared at Convention (or a version of it, actually), that I made up using strips of the Well Worn DSP leftover from this layout.

I did use a few non-Stampin' Up! items on this one, as I was just playing and using up bits and pieces I had in my drawers and scraps on the table.

My favorite bit about this layout is the title - I just love how that all worked together here.

I absolutely love the Word Play set - certainly a VERY usable and versatile one for scrapbooking and cards alike.  I used the Stampin' Write Markers here to colour in various parts of the title, the Heart to Heart punch and a scrap, and the Game Spinner Hands.  It's just a perfect combination!  Love it!

Love & Laughter Wedding Card

As requested by my lovely group in Nelson, I made up this wedding card, inspired by one by Patty Bennett.  I loved this card - it uses a lot of our new products in the Autumn/Winter Mini. 

The stamp set is the wedding set is the Love & Laughter set in the mini - such a cute one!  The Nelson ladies gave me an excuse to buy this one.  Fingers crossed it ends up in the main catalogue in September, but just in case . . . best to buy before the mini ends next month!

The papers are the yummy Attic Boutique papers, also available just through July.  The edge across the top is made using the Edgelits dies and also the Edgelits Embossing Folders. 

We also used the Shimmer Paint (Frost White) and made our own shimmer spray.  Mix a bit of the paint with some Isopropyl Alcohol and water, and away you go.  Easy to start spritzing everything . . . .

Vintage Tea Shoppe

Wow has this week zipped by!  I'm looking forward to our Stamp Extravaganza tomorrow here in Auckland, and then team training in Christchurch on Sunday.

In the meantime, this card was requested in one of my classes, and this is my version of it.  Each lady came up with her own colour combination - I love it when there's a little creative room in a project so everyone's turns out differently.

This one comes together surprisingly quickly - the embellishments and bits are all stamps, so there's not many supplies either.

Here is another colour version; I couldn't decide which might look the best . . .

This project uses just the Tea Shoppe stamp set in the mini catalogue - such a lovely set with a LOT in it.  Available through the end of July only!

I slipped a real tea bag in the cup, which is quite a nice look.  I poured my tea leaves out, but some ladies left theirs in, and that looked even better.

Annual All Day Team Training !!

We had a wonderful, fantastic day yesterday at the annual all-day Team Training.  We had a great turn out and some super prepared teachers . . . the day couldn't have gone much better from where I'm standing.

 

Although we did have an exploding table (mine) on set up.  Lucky our Rob was there with his TOOLS to save the day:

The ladies came in and helped set up and and found places to sit; it's easy to make new friends in a group like this.

I like to include a service project at big events, and this year the team and I made 41 cards to donate to the Hospice for their volunteers.  Everyone had their version of this:

Using Pocket Silhouettes, it's a simple, but effective idea that can use up a heap of scrap cardstock, too.

Delys Cram was one of our lovely presenters - they all did an amazing job and spent a lot of time preparing something wonderful for the team.

We also had a great guest speaker, Jo Donson, Image Consultant, who came and taught us about makeup and some tips about finding our own personal style.  Pam Olds was our lovely model who donated her face for the day.

Twitterpated Quilt Card

This was my swap for the Stampin' Up! convention in Canberra this year - these were a tiny bit more work that my standard swap, but still quite easy to whip together.  And it certainly helped that after team training one day, several of my team sat down for half hour and helped finish them off.

It's so much more fun to craft when you have conversation and many hands!!  Amazing how we got done in a short time what might have taken me hours . . .

I've enjoyed these Twitterpated papers - that they can go both feminine and masculine was quite useful when using it for scrapbooking. 

I used the 1" square punch and used up all the bits and pieces from leftovers and made up this easy little quilted pattern.  You can add some bits and bobs you have extra, like those extra butterflies, the scraps of ribbon, and the last brad in the container.

I like this one, and I think I will be making it up for personal use in different colours!

Quick card using Scraps

This is one of the projects I showed at Convention last week - my topic being ways to use your scraps.  Which is quite a broad and varied topic.  I loved how this card turned out, and who doens't have strips of patterned paper left over in their packs?

Here is a cute way to use them!

I just scissor cut the strips at the bottom to make the ever-popular banner shape and used my mat pack to create some faux stitching across the top.

I used the framelits die to cut just one side of the sentiment panel, and then inked up one of the stamps from Word Play with a marker, omitting some of the words.  Add those great vintage tags and a glittery heart and done!

Here is a slightly different version I gave to my friend just as I was on the way to the airport to Canberra. Luckily she was still doing well when I returned, but it's so important to show love every day . . .

Dance Always Scrapbooking Layout

Hot off the press!  Going out teaching tonight and just finished this a few hours ago!!  Nothing like being super fresh in the mind before you teach a project . . . I meant to do this before I left for Australia, but time got away. 

I used a sample in the Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Magazine (Impressions) July 2011 as the inspiration for this one.  Much of the sample's product was retired, so it was a bit of a trick to find replacements.  However, we have such a LARGE assortment of products available, I think this worked out effectively:

Using the Mixed Bunch Stamp set and the Blossom Party Die, I was able to create a MASS of flowers!  My three daughters love this page.  It's not my typical style, but all three girls sure love this.  What do you think?

I used the Timeless Type Die cuts for the Dance word, and the Loving Thoughts set for the "always".  I just markered up the bit that I wanted, and omitted the rest.  I love the font on that set!

We'll see how the ladies go!  My favorite classes to teach these days are layout classes as everyone has a different take, and I learn from you as well!

Some Cute Projects & Prizes

Stampin' Up! always gives us such cool awards and prizes at Convention, some of which I am not yet allowed to share on my blog, unfortunately.  But here are some of the cute packaging ideas SU had to share with us this year:

These got a little bit smashed in my suitcase, but I think they made the trip remarkably well.  The "dust" on them is powdered sugar from the chocolates inside.  I ended up with five - perfect for the four kids and one boyfriend.

Aren't those paper bows just gorgeous?  And the round frame stamp is one we are getting come September!

Isn't this lovely?  This is my very fancy watched all wrapped up, using simple brown paper and torn Stampin' Up fabric.  That butterfly punch is a sneak peak as to what we are getting in September's catalogue!  Lovely!

This wallet was wrapped entirely in the Fabric and then a little tag made with the butterfly again and a doily die cut (another sneak peak).  Again, SU shows us that good products, good colours, good design = it doesn't have to be complicated to be stunning!

A Wonderful Convention in Canberra

I'm home now and recovering from a FULL on 4 days in Canberra at the annual Stampin' Up! convention.  The excitement, the friendliness, the fun - it was all just so amazing.  Every year I really enjoy it and come away buzzing, and this time was no exception.

The creative classes were inspiring and informative and the business classes were so well done - even though I was fighting off a head cold, I was awake and riveted the whole time.  Please join us next year in Brisbane!  Yes, join my team and come as a demonstrator, or even consider coming as a guest!!

It really is lots of fun and you will walk away feeling proud and happy of the company you either represent or support - or both!

I am honored and proud to be named the New Zealand Demonstrator of the Year - and for the last time.  They have decided to do away with this award and rather set a flat bar that any number of people may achieve.  I respect that decision.

One of the really fun things we got to do is have a dinner and conversation with Shelli at the Parliament House.  Thank you, ladies, for all being so lovely and welcoming and fun.  Shame that shot of the Kiwis eating lamingtons got into the convention video - but all in fun!
