Yesterday was a fun day with many of my team around me for a sunny morning of nibbles, chats, and crafting! Oh yes, and we did do a bit of training in there - time ran a bit short. I didn't hear any grumbling, though.
My friend and downline, Barbara Bicknell of Chocolate Boutique in Parnell, has been slipping me these tins for months now, with the idea that we'd use them to make rubbish containers for our classes with the team. Sadly, Barbara wasn't able to be there yesterday! Always a team player, she is an exemplary woman.
I explained the concept to the ladies and let them go for it. Here is what I came up with while playing on my own:
I'm enjoying that bird die! I might use her on my swaps for convention next month. Any cute or lovely ideas, please send them my way! :) (Trolling the web is not one of my favorite activities)
I got out every flower die and every flower punch we have and let the girls just create their own exotic specimens. Luckily I'm not a florist so they all look perfect to me.
I'll be taking this around to my classes with me so you can have a hands on look (don't all of us creative people look with our fingers??) I have six tins left and Barbara is willing to be my secret supplier, so if you'd like to do this in a class, please let me know! Lots of fun and practical for your work area, too!
I've been having lots of fun playing around with the new Simply Scoring Tool in the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue. Last night we made these lovely Explosion Purses and a little card to match:
The purse itself is made with a 12x12 and comes out quite large - enough for a small gift. Of course you can make it any size, just start with a square.
These new Attic Boutique papers are sooo lovely. That Poppy Parade/Pool Party combo has become my new favorite.
I often have requests for doing 3D flowers. They aren't as tricky as they look. This lovely one is made using the new Blossom Punch and the Vanilla Smooch Spritz. Even a very simple project looks yummy with a big boofy flower like this!
And last, here is my helper this morning. the one who is always in the middle of whatever you are doing - a benign supervisor:
My favourite product suite in the new Summer Mini - the Spiced Paisley series.
This Altered Milk Carton Box is made with two of the Milk Carton dies put together to make a six sided box. Once you make one, they are easy:
This is one of the projects I got to make on the trip to Fiji in October, along with a card and one of those awesome necklaces in the mini. I'll put those up next.
The top of the box is folded just like if you were making a standard milk carton, just done six times, and then threaded together to keep it closed.
I'm loving the new Spiced Paisley stamps and the Spice Cake papers - you'll be seeing a lot more of the papers in particular in classes before the mini runs out!
Thanks for reading, have a wonderful day, and please feel free to contact me with any queries or orders!
I was so impressed when I saw a little box like this at the Hamilton Extravaganza! Sorry I don't recall who had it made, but it was one of my lovely team members.
I was teaching the Petal Cone Box (posted last week), and I was struck by how clever somebody out there was to make such a cute box out of the very same die!!
The tip of the cone is cut off and the ends folded under to make the bottom. The flaps are folded in like a box top and done!
I wanted to wrap the belly band around the box, but the unique noodle box shape makes that more difficult that it's worth, so around the top it went!
Love how this flower turned out - simple punches and die cut stickers finished it off. And the glimmer brads sure are popular amongst my customers! Have you seen them in real life? They are pretty cool.
You're all wondering where that dsp came from, I'm sure. It's from the same place as the die cut sticker flower: the Tickets and Tags Scrapping kit. I had it sitting here on my desk with full intentions of becoming thank you cards. Well, it just called to me to be used for this wee box.
The good news is the Petal Cone Die is 10% off for a few more days! Order yours at the special $65.65 price!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Paisley Petals
Colours: Baja Breeze, Poppy Parade, Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake
This is an awesome little box with sooooo much potential! AND this die is on special this month too!
This box is done with two die cuts - you can make a flat pouch using just one die. I taught this project at our three team extravaganzas and really enjoyed it. It was easy to do and so effective! The photo doesn't do these gorgeous colours justice, really.
These make a very cute box to hang on the Christmas tree or on a doorknob. So cute! Of all the Christmas sets, I've used this one Tags Till Christmas the most this year.
Wow, you will love this! For May the Guest Artist Team was given the Sweet Stiches papers and the PomPom Trim. Chrissie said this was a real challenge for her, but it's hard to believe with her creation . . .
Apparently is punishable by death if the bow gets undone - it's perfect Chrissie!
The detail here is impressive! Chrissie punched holes and drew stitches between all of those squares. And don't you love how she's used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder as the "quilting"??
Chrissie has made a cute box using the envelope die that we did in class yonks ago. Such a cute way to use that die - so much more than an envelope! She told me she used every single scrap of that Sweet Stiches DSP, and I completely believe her! Lots of cute embellishments for the box.
Now check out the card set inside!
Each and every card is "quilted" with tiny strips of the Sweet Stitches DSP. It's just beautiful Chrisse!
The Stamps are from Punch Bunch, a SaleABration set from March. I do have a few of these left over, but just a couple. First hands up get them!
Thank you Chrissie for another impressive display of your talent!
Last week we had a Pastels class here along with a guest teacher, Janine Pearce. She taught us this gorgeous woven basket. Amazing what can be done with a single A4 sheet of cardstock!
The strips are stamped and sponged and then woven around a pineapple can for shape.
The flowers are from the Birds and Blooms die cut set and then softly sponged around the edges using Pastels. It's a different effect - the technique that I predominantly used myself before I discovered the love of ink.
This is a lovely Sale A Bration project designed by Rachael Knight and using the SaleABration set Sweet Summer.
Rachael love the boxes and bits and pieces, so this was just her style. We loved it! The demonstrators got to do this one at the Stamp Camp we held in Rotorua about a month ago:
Inside the box we had a notebook, pen, bookmarks, eraser, and clips:
And everyone's favourite, the thumb tacks:
Rachael and I have been storing these for YEARS just for this stamp camp, haven't we Rach?
She did a good job using those up! You won the challenge hands down!
The stamp set is one of the FREE SAB sets, available only until March 31st. Free with any qualifying order or workshop! Email me for your free brochure!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Sweet Summer FREE with qualifying order and/or workshop
This is such a cute project to do with the Party Favour Box Die. We did this at training in one version, then Ria Kaire designed it up Vintage style, and this is my take on it.
I just LOVE that saying in this stamp set. This is my style - bright and fun and happy. Well, okay, "my" style changes as the weather changes. Seriously.
The picture doesn't really do this justice. That Daffodil Delight is really quite a fun yellow. Just the other day my girls were discussing favourite colours in the backseat, and all three agreed that yellow didn't make the cut. However, this IS a lovely yellow - vivid and happy without being florescent.
Consider this one on your next order - Daffodil delight comes in ink, marker, ribbon, and cardstock.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Birthday Bakery - FREE hostess set (hostess a workshop or use your punch card)
Colours: Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, Basic Black

Shown to demonstrators at Convention, this cute card set is a wonderful handmade gift idea! You can create this yourself with just a few supplies.
Do you recognize where the box came from? It's the scallop envelope die! Cut out two dies and adhere them together to create such an easy and sweet little box. (I also added an insert to make the box a wee bit wider, but this is optional)
The Share A Cup stamp is one of the few stamps that Stampin Up sells individually. And at $13.95, it's a bargain!
Each card is a succession of a stack of little teacups; it's a great way to get lots of different images out of one little stamp.
I chose to mount my word and cup separately. I cut the rubber apart and put the word on the side of the block. Doing it this way will make it easier to use the word and the teacup separately.
Share a Cup is only available for a few more weeks! Order yours here
This is a cute and easy little bag to make up for those small gifts or for birthday and wedding favours.
I've used the Kraft colour here for the base to coordinate with the standard kraft-coloured little lunch sacks. And this makes a nice base to put on more vibrant colours.
The background is done with the Very Vintage jumbo wheel - found in the Autumn/Winter mini. I love this one - we don't know if it's staying around or not, so I'd suggest you get it before it goes in 6 weeks.
And the bird punch - a real must have, in my opinion. Love this little lady.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Very vintage Jumbo Wheel
Colours: Kraft, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Old Olive
Other: 2 step bird punch, Rose Red Ribbon, Sponge dauber, small oval punch, Top Note Die
Each artist was given the Soho Eyelets (Winter Mini Catalogue) and Kiwi Kiss & Baja Breeze cardstock. Take a look at this lovely tin Sally has made for us:
Do you recognize the tin?
And the lovely tags inside:
Such an elegant, simple, effective design. Love that Little Leaves die cut!
Sally said she is "pleased with how these developed. Kind of a clean rustic look. There is something quite nice about creating a set of something".
Agreed! And something quite nice about receiving a set of something too.
Thanks Sally!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Tiny Tags
Colours: Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Whisper White
Other: Soho Eyelets, Build a Brad, Little Leaves Sizzlits die
Today I'm posting a project I did up a few weeks ago - it's similar to what Bron shared with us on Wednesday's post and also to what Chrissy designed up as her submission the first week of July.
I loved the concept of using those notes to make a wee bag - just right for a few little notecards AND a square of chocolate!
I wanted to show how versatile these Pendant Notes are as well as show how easy it is to take a couple of ideas you like and combine them.
I'm also considering this a Budget Wise project because the pendants on the cards are just ink - which costs virtually nothing! An easy, inexpensive, versatile embellishment!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Vintage Vogue $38.95
Colours: Kraft, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Orchid Opulance, Chocolate Chip
Other: Pendant Notes set of 15 cards & envelopes $20.95, Colour Spritzer (or Squishy Squirter as we like to call it on the Creative Inkers Team), Build a Brad, 1/2 inch circle punch
Bron has taken the Pendant Notes and made a Pendant Tote!
The little tote is made by adding a few extra score lines on the pendant note cards and whipping up a cute and easy box.
The DSP here is the Pink Flamingo papers - it's a great print here featuring Real Red. Bron has made up envelopes to fit the small card using the DSP. I love that - the recipient gets a little wow when they open the envy and sees the other print inside. Double sided paper is great like that.
The meallion on the front of the 3x3 cards is done up entirely with ink. Cool, isn't it?
Thanks, Bron!
Check back in next Wednesday for the next round of challenges!
Supplies Used:
Colours: Real Red, Kraft
Other: Pendant Notes, Pink Flamingo DSP, Real Red grosgrain ribbon
Her last submission in the Guest Artist Team, she wanted to do something really special. It's amazing the varied things these ladies have come up with using the All a Flutter Butterfly stamp!
Narelle has treated us with a gorgeous box set of cards:
Using the All A Flutter stamp and the Cottage Wall DSP - she went for it with this one. Check it all out!
The box is covered in the Cottage Wall DSP and the All A Flutter stamp landed as lovely little accents.
This card combines FOUR stamp sets! Well done Narelle! The little flower and the stem are from Cottage Garden, the big flower from Vintage Vogue, the All a Flutter stamp, and the words from a retired SaleABration set that I have forgotten the name of.
Wow - goes to show that with a perfect colour match, you can combine all sorts of different things successfully.
There had to be one project with the clear glitter embossing to have Narelle's name on it! :)
Love this one particularly - using the Bird Punch for the branches and the Vintage Vogue flowers, it makes a beautiful spray of blooms. She's used the Stampin' Write Markers to acheive the two colours on the smaller flowers.
This card showcases the Blender Pens and how one can acheive a neat gradation of colour. check out the nice work on those butterflies! Combined with the Cottage Garden set, it looks stunning!
Not sure, but this one might be my favourite. Love the marker-to-stamp look here on the Vintage Vogue flourish to make it into more of a floral.
And another of Narelle's signatures is the off-centre focal points - something I find hard to do. Which is why sharing is so fabulous!
Sentiment is from the Cheers to You set.
All right - everyone please give Narelle a round of applause!
Thank you so much!!!!!!
Colours: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulance, Old Olive
Welcome to a new month of Guest Artist Challenges! This month is this group's last run so I've given them each a stamp to use and keep as a thank you. Each of these lovely ladies has received the All A Flutter stamp to showcase this month.
If you'd like to part of the next team of Guest Artists, email me your interest. Love to have you!
Paula Dobson has treated us this month (okay - treated ME! LOL) with a box and a card set. The box has some lovely little goodies inside - perfect for those overnighters or the gym bag. How did she know?
The All A Flutter stamp was used here for the Crayon Resist Technique - an easy one using crayons for a real WOW effect! (Email me if you'd like to learn this technique and I can put you in touch with a demonstrator offering classes near you.)
It's a great use of the crimper and a paper shredder to make your own box confetti - love the look! It's come in handy for myself with all the birthday parties lately, too.
Paula's card coordinates with the box perfectly, of course, and she's also treated us with her signature hand-made envelope.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing you!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: All a Flutter $15.95
Colours: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Lavendar Lace
