I've taught this one over and over and over this season. If you've done a class with me, then you have seen it! Because I love it - a cool technique, easy to achieve, and quick to do. Meets all my Christmas card requirements!
This project was taken from a lovely swap given to me a year or maybe two years ago by Kristine McNickle. She did hers in blues, which was lovely too.
Yesterday I posted using this same single stamp done in colours - today done in just monochromatic browns. Which do you prefer?
This stamp is just $24.95 - great value for an image with both motifs and words! And I haven't met a customer yet who doesn't love these Mocha Specialty papers - between the metallic accents and the flocked papers, it's just gorgeous!!
This is a neat and quick project shown to my by friend and customer, Kathe O. Thank you so much for sharing! This is the ornament closed:
And open:
I chose to use the Mocha Specialty papers because one I love them and two because they have a bit of metallic shimmer to the prints.
The label on the front is just the same stamp layered up with punches. Turned out nice and so quick. Perfect Punches is one of those stamp sets I don't pull out often enough.
Email me with any questions or to have this shown to you in a class!
supplies Used:
Stamps: Perfect Punches $38.95
Colours: Brushed Gold, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Other: Mocha Specialty Papers, Pearl Bead, Embroidery thread or a fine ribbon, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/4 circle punch, Gold Brads, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
This is a very cute little invitation Stampin' Up! sent to me before Convention for the Manager's Reception. Really, it's basically just one layer of cardstock and some small pieces of Designer Series Papers on top.
I like the mix of the EAstern Blooms stamp set and the Five Petal Flower Punch here. That's a darn easy flower "center" they've done up - I wouldn't have thought to use the stamp directly on the DSP.
Hmmm, I think I might copy this idea for an upcoming Senz class using different colours and different stamps . .. .
Can you tell what punch is used to make that cute border?
Have a fantastic weekend and don't forget to check out this week's Deals of the Week! (see below)
One of the great things about having inks and cardstock and printed papers that all match AND stamp images that coordinate with the printed paper is that it doesn't take much to create a beautiful project that looks "just right".
This is a simple design - one stamp in one colour on a single sheet of Designer Series Paper:
I put the so yummy Chocolate Chip Supernova Glitter on the flowers to make them pop a bit more. There is also just a dash of Dazzling Diamonds on the stamped image.
This was then put on an inexpensive notebook - easily found at a $2 shop or similar. I have three daughters, as many of you know, and a notebook is always a hit. And I am a listmaker, so I use lots of these myself. And somehow, it's just so much more fun to write in something beautiful!
This is a lovely idea for a relatively Quick and Easy Christmas card. I did this idea as a make and take at a Scrapbooking Convention many years ago - still an effective project.
The wreath is actually super easy - it's the wreath stamp from the Welcome Christmas stamp set. It isn't as fiddly to cut out as it may appear; it's done quite randomly and they went pretty quickly.
**** It seems as of recent that many customers and friends are suddenly not getting my emails. I believe that some of the internet providers may have changed their spam filter settings. Please add me mail@stamphappy.co.nz to your safe senders list, your address book, or add the domain name as a safe sender.
And in the meantime, please check your spam or junk mail folder. If you use Outlook or another email program, you may also need to check your junk mail folder on your webmail. (for example, check your outlook junk mail and then also log into your email account via the webpage of your internet service provider and check that junk mail folder as well).
I reply to all emails and texts - if you have not heard from me, there is most definately a disconnect somewhere. Text are most welcome as well. 021 128 9923 Many thanks so all of you - my valued customers and team!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Welcome Christmas, Tiny Tags
Colours: Real Red, Old Olive, Crumb Cake
Other: 3/8 inch silver brads, Real Red Satin Ribbon, Jewelery Punch
Last Wednesday we had our annual Christmas gifts class, and one of the projects was this very cute Gingerbread Cookie Recipe in a Jar:
Gee, it looks like I cut that ribbon with a butter knife. (I'm pretty sure I didn't; my guess is the girls were playing with it and frayed it up a bit).
The idea here is that this is the dry ingredients to a cookie recipe layered up like sand art. The instructions include adding the wet items. Makes for a really quick treat for the recipient and an adorable presentation.

This is a fabulousPrincess Fairy Wand project shared with me by a wonderful customer and now team member,Pam Cregeen.
We did this up in class here a few weeks back for the Birthday Ideas Class.
I think I took these pictures in the dark?
The cool technque is getting the ribbons to curl like that and stay curly. (Between three cats and one extreme princess in my house, this wand has been slightly abused though).
After we curled the ribbons, we added a bit of white tool, and the SuperNova Glitter up the wand.
This would/will make a great birthday party activity! Easy to do and a good way to use up ribbon bits and bobs.
This idea was shown to me by several ladies - Paula Dobson, Bron Heslop, and also from a beautiful swap at convention. It's been a lot of fun to play with this technique - and it's so easy my daughters have each made a piece of jewellery for themselves as well!
Can you believe this is made out of paper?
I made these into brooches and a necklace. And this is another beautiful necklace that my eldest daughter made:
And this is a barrette and another necklace: (I did made some earrings to match using the little flower in the princess set, but eldest daughter has taken them somewhere very safe)
The Perfect Princess set is retiring, so get it now while you can!
This is a Quick and Easy stamping project you can make using your Stampin' Up supplies and the widely available plant rocks.
I've used a variety of images here, but any small image will do. Simply trace around the rock onto your card, cut out and adhere using Crystal Effects. Add a magnet on the back. so easy!
These make great little projects for kids' parties, wedding favours, and more.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: various - any small stamp will be great, especially line art ones (those that can be coloured in)
Today I'm posting a project I did up a few weeks ago - it's similar to what Bron shared with us on Wednesday's post and also to what Chrissy designed up as her submission the first week of July.
I loved the concept of using those notes to make a wee bag - just right for a few little notecards AND a square of chocolate!
I wanted to show how versatile these Pendant Notes are as well as show how easy it is to take a couple of ideas you like and combine them.
I'm also considering this a Budget Wise project because the pendants on the cards are just ink - which costs virtually nothing! An easy, inexpensive, versatile embellishment!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Vintage Vogue $38.95
Colours: Kraft, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Orchid Opulance, Chocolate Chip
Other: Pendant Notes set of 15 cards & envelopes $20.95, Colour Spritzer (or Squishy Squirter as we like to call it on the Creative Inkers Team), Build a Brad, 1/2 inch circle punch
Everyone loves this little bird from the For Everything stamp set in the Summer Mini. He is a cutie!
This is a simple card, easily replicated by layering some Designer Paper and ribbon. Here I've used the Pink Flamingo, one that is quite nice when used. (It looks a bit loud in the catalogue).
But, like blusher, even bright colours look nice when used in the right amounts!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: For Everything set of twelve $56.95
Colours: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Cameo Coral, Summer Sun
Other: Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8 punch, 1 1/4 circle punch, Blender pens, Dazzling Diamonds glitter Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon
A cute little book made from something that is so readily available - drink coasters!
I've covered two drink coasters here to make a back and a front, added a spine and some pages. This is a really great project, particularly for the teenage set.
The front is embellished with the Priceless stamp set and the Boho Blossoms punch. The stamping has a layered, dimensional look due to various colours being used, spritzering, and sponging on of ink.
The words are from the favourite hostess set, Best Yet. Love that one!
To acheive the multi-coloured image with the words, colour each word with the brush end of a Stampin' Write Marker, huff on the image, and then stamp.
I received the news today that a friend of mine has lost her grandmother over the weekend.
I'm sending her this card tomorrow.
This is a combination of two swaps I received at the Stampin' Up! convention last year, taking what I really liked about both and combining them to make something new.
I've labeled this one Budget Wise because you need very few supplies. Beyond your basic supplies (ink, stamps and cardstock), you only need the horizontal slot punch and some ribbon. Glitter is a nice extra.
I'm gravitating more towards the clean look with fine details these days.
I've used the Owl Together Now stamp set, one that I think is darn cute! As you can see, the scallop edge is punched with the 1/16th hole punch and then folded back to add a little interest.
The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig is just the tool to get the owls sitting right on the branch. I've then coloured them in using Blender Pens and the ink pads.
On both cards, I've used the Real Red Gingham ribbon. However, because the ribbon is red and white and the cardstock here is Very Vanilla, I used a sponge and the Close to Cocoa ink to make the ribbon a little less "white".
The Baja Breeze card is a simple punched hole and the ribbon run through. The Pink Pirouette version uses a homemade heart paperclip - a neat little trick using a simple, standard paperclip.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Owl Together Now set of fourteen $62.95, weathered $39.95
Colours: Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, various colours for colouring
Other: Real Red Gingham ribbon, 1/16th hole punch, Blender Pens, Crystal Effects, paperclip, Word Window Punch. Scallop Notes set of 30 incl envelopes $28.95
This little beauty was inspired by the lovely Merilyn Irvine's card she sent me for my birthday.
The bride who wanted this design needed a couple things: butterflies, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery, relatively easy to make, and to keep within the budget her future husband had set out.
So we took three different cards and came up with this combination, simplifying Merilyn's original work for both mass production and to reduce cost-per-card.
It's really a neat "layout" for a card - a clever design and beautiful colours make all the difference!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Butterfly Prints $29.95, Baroque Motifs $46.95
Colours: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery
Other: White grosgrain ribbon, 3/4 circle punch, scallop edge punch, Butterfly Punch, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
I love projects that go together quickly as much as I enjoy those that are beautiful works of art. (Well, that about covers it all, doesn't it! :)
This is a fun little bag that I've used quite a bit with my daughters. It's just the right size for a voucher, a piece of jewelry, small cards, or chocolate!
What a fantastic weekend this has been! (Besides getting burned to a crisp falling asleep at the pool).
Saturday I held the annual Christmas breakfast for my Stampin' Up! team - a morning of appreication and fun for "my girls". I do value and appreciate them so much and also enjoy that they love being together as well.
And, as seems to be traditional as well, we had loads too much food and I'm sure I ended up with more in my frig than when we started! My girls love it!!
Each year I have had a team, I've made a Christmas gift for my downline, a daunting but extremely enjoyable project. This year I had this idea in my head for months now to make a ribbon dispenser with some biscuit tins. After consulting with my builder friend and several hardware store staff, I struck a way to make this work.
The first step was to sand off the really ugly paint on the parts that would still be visible. There's no paint on the market that was going to cut mustard; sanding was the only way to go. It came up a reasonably nice silver.
Next I covered all the tins in various papers. Needless to say, I am now quite proficient wiht the new Circle Scissors - and thank goodness we got that product in time to make this project a whole lot easier to complete! Sofie (7) stayed up very late one night with me sticking on all the circles. (Side note: we had one circle left over, which she immediately stuck to her leg for some reason. You should have seen her face when she realized she was giving herself a wax!)
Next came the eyelets around the tins. Yes, did those with the crop-a-dile. Amazing it goes through tin - it's really what sold me on it in the first place. The possbilities! However, it did make my craft room a temporary danger zone as this project did leave a lot of tiny schrapnel on the floor. Sofie will tell you they are quite sharp.
Then I decorated all the lids. Kjristi (9) was the one who largely cut and threaded through all the ribbons. She was happy to do that because that job included putting the truffles inside as well. (YES I did let her have one!!)
The Raspberry Tart tins feature a ribbon rosette, accomplished by pulling one of the white stitched threads on one side until the ribbon gathers up. Curl it up into a flower shape and stitch to hold together and stitch on a few whole pearls from the Pretties Kit. Not really as difficult as it sounds - the effect is lovely. Inspired by the talented Kelly Slattery.
Next up was the Urban Garden tins, done up with the Inspired by Nature stamp set. Don't you love the Kiwi Kiss Glitter?! Supernova glitter is fantastic (pg 145) on these flowers. Love this stamp set for quick and effective. I think these ones are my personal favourites out of the lot, but hard to choose, really. These were also Madeleine's favourite.
I haven't used the Haiku papers at all this year - opened a new pack to do these tins. I like how it looks! I really do. Eastern Blooms and A Beautiful Thing stamp sets were used for this. It did take a little time to cut out all those flowers, but not bad. My daughter Kjristi matched them up and put the brads through and glittered them for me. The leaves are made with the oval punch and the crimper - such a COOL way to make leaves. I shall do a video on that one day soon. I left these tins relatively simple as I think the Asian theme lends itself to a more clean look. This one was Kjirsti's favourite.
The Flight of the Butterfly with the Tea Party papers were the most popular at the breakfast. Madeleine (11) designed these and half way made them. (The neighbours wanted to play, so that won out, but she did do the design as well as all the stamping and punching). I just had to stick it together in the end and put on the words. She's a big help to me. This tin was Sofie's favourite.
I challenged myself to use the Pink Flamingo papers, and again, I quite like how fresh and FUN these look. I've been wanting to try these flowers made with the scallop punch for over a year when my dear friend Melinda sent me a card with one on it. The large brads from the Hodge Podge Kit (and discounted right now as well!) were the perfect thing to hold it all together. I quite like the bright colours peeping out from the indside of the petals.
And last up was the Pick a Petal tins made with the Sweet Always papers. I designed up an album recently, which inspired the lid for this one. (some of you may recognize that). As far as versatile stamp sets go, Pick a Petal has got to be near the top of the list. The centres of the flowers are done up with the Build a Brad and little bits of the Sweet Always paper. They are super versatile since you can create them to suit any project. These tins were jared's favourites.
It was a couple of very very late nights (hence me crashing at the pool and getting burned!) and early mornings to get these done in time, but I truly enjoyed every minute. It reminded me again of why I love this business, this industry, this art so much - it's the creating something beautiful and from your heart for those you care about.
These came together really easily once I got started. And I know why. Because Love is the best inspiration.
