This was a lovely project presented to us at the Demonstrator Stamp Camp in March by Ria Kaire. We all really enjoyed making this - and I titled mine up so I had a little album for an upcoming weekend in Waipu.
And typical me, I didnt' get it entirely done until the night before we left for the trip!!
And one of Ria's famous embellishments is the chipboard letters covered in coloured glitter and then with Crystal Effects. It's a two day process, but the effect is stunning:
The inside of the album features a waterfall elements where with the pull of a tab, the flaps flip out:
Now silly me I didnt' show it on pics! But each of the small pictures on the flaps slides up to reveal hidden journaling. It was a very very cool project with lots of wow to it!!
And Ria introduced us to the Well Worn papers, the same papers I used in my last layout. They are yummy!
Thank you, Ria, for a wonderful project and for this beautiful keepsake of our awesome weekend!
I had an entire day at home with no where to go, so I spread out and thoroughly enjoyed the creation of this page of Bayley, Rob's son. My challenge was to use the Well Worn papers, which was easy enough as they are lovely to work with - blending nicely and none of the prints too loud.
See my table as I was in progress with this one on my FaceBook page!
the layout design is reasonably simple, but the amount and number of patterns here makes it look busier than it is. I like the "warm" colours and the cozy feel of this one.
The word across the bottom was fun to do - We made a River Rock tag pinned down by brads for the first letter. Then hand cut or die cut reverse letters for the other three tags and back with crimped Cajun Craze cardstock.
The "No" stamp is from the Grunge Rock stamp set - can you see how I changed the stamp? The background is from the same stamp set.
The circle embellishment on the photo is also from Grunge Rock, and I thought perfect for this particular photo as well.
The journaling is just computer printed and scissor cut apart - a very easy way to get your journaling to "fit" into various spaces! I love doing this . . . partly because I just hate formatting things to fit!
I am teaching this layout again in Birkenhead north shore Monday May 14th 7:30 pm. We had some new ladies last night out in Howick and it was lovely! Beginners or experienced people are always welcome!

As per request, this is my jazzed up version of my last layout, inspired by Delys Cram.
These papers are much busier and more colourful than the Spice Cake, so I had to change up a few things to make it work:
Although the design is simple, there are still a few techniques in here and a lot of new product! It was fun to have a play with all the new goodies. Love that! ~
Besides the photo, of course, the main element on this page is the new Elegant Bird die. Nearly a copy of the sample in the mini catalogue, minus the chicken pox, as one of my customers called it. LOL
I wanted to add a bit to her tummy, but colouring in just wasn't looking right. A bit of subtle stamping with the new Bordering on Romance set and some glitter seemed just right.
I am offering Ribbon Shares of the new, gorgeous pleated ribbon.
These rosettes are made using the new Simply Scoring Tool! Wow do I love this tool. I already have an idea of how to use it on my next layout. These little flowers are easy to make and use literally just bits of cardstock.
I was using tiny pieces and still I think the Blushing Bride one turned out a smidge too big for what I was envisioning.
Recieve a free tutorial on how to make these with your Simply Scoring Tool purchase!
Join us tonight in Howick 7:30 for a scrapbooking class or in Birkenhead 16th of April.
To make this project, order these supplies:
Stamps: Bordering on Romance set of five $48.95, Just Perfect Alphabet set of 26 $43.95
This is a take from the lovely, talented Delys Cram - a version of a SaleABration layout she showed us all at our Demonstrator Training Stamp Camp. I absolutely loved what she did - so this is my version using the Spice Cake papers:
I used this easy design as a demonstration at the recent Auckland Craft Expo, so some of you may have seen me whip this together in 20 minutes. Simple and Lovely. You know, it's the colours Stampin' Up! puts together and makes all the accessories coordinate - that is a big part of what makes even simple designs look fantastic.
The Spice Cake papers also have optional coordinating fabrics, which I used here to make this embellishment flower. I've used the Blossom Party die here and it cuts through fabric like butter.
I've used the Perfect Alphabet here to make the title, and punched them with the 3/4 inch circle punch. There! An easy way to make a title without stamping directly and without cutting out individual letters!
The two brads are from the SaleABration series - and only available through tomorrow!!
Order your Spice Cake papers by tomorrow; they are going and gone forever. Sad face; I've really enjoyed the soothing colours in these ones. See my more embellished layout using these same materials here.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Perfect Alphabet
Colours: Pool Party,Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, More Mustard, Very Vanilla
Other: SAB Everyday Enchantment Brads, Subtles Buttons, Twine, Blossom Party Die, Seam Binding Ribbon, Spice Cake Fabrics, Spice Cake papers, Lace Ribbon Border Punch, Heart to Heart Punch, 3/4 inch circle punch
This creation is for tonight's scrapbooking class - inspired strongly by the sample in the Summer Mini Catalogue itself! I really liked the layout, and just jazzed it up a bit more.
I don't think I could have found a better photo for this - done by photographer and friend Kylie Pokere, she gave us an excellent deal. She did a fantastic job, charged us for the shoot and a disk where I can print the photos as I wish to do layouts. Creative family photos at a great price and plenty of inspiration for my work.
I used the Gold Glow sprintz all over the layout, leaving and loving the blobs that came out on "accident". I actually like that sort of look, too.
The yummy Spice Cake papers were woven (this is actually quite quick and easy) to create a lovely background mat with lots of colour.
The butterfly brad is from the Fresh Vintage SaleABration Suite - mixing in some girlie in there.
Who would have put More Mustard with Pool Party?? I quite like it.
I love how this frame turned out! I created my own background stamp by putting four of the Spiced Paisley cling stamps onto one big block, then stamped away. Went over the top with the Woodgrain stamp and edged with white ink. Turned out awesome!
The amphersand is covered with the Spice Cake fabric! I'm hoping some of the ladies tonight do their titles in fabric - didn't quite work with what I was doing, but would look fantastic in general.
Used bits of the fabric on the layout for "ribbon", too.
I have another photo I wanted to fit on here, but it just was better to leave it as is, so I think at class tonight I will make a facing page layout to go with this one. We'll see. Might be too busy chatting!
Next Scrapbooking Class is Wednesday April 4th. Theme to be determined tonight, but taking requests!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Spiced Paisley, Woodgrain
Colours: Pool Party, More Mustard, Soft Suede, River Rock, Pear Pizzazz
Wow do I LOVE these new printed papers!!! It was an absolute pleasure to design this one up . . . partly because I love the colours and prints and partly because I love the subject.
Okay the photos don't do this justice, as per usual, really. I would have never thought to put Poppy Parade with Pool Party, but I do like it.
These photos are from a fun "photo shoot" we did in October with the family. Rob preferred some other photos of us, but these ones matched the papers perfectly. Sorry, Darling. Next time.
The journaling on this one is a text Rob sent me in August. It was one of the many, many, may lovely, sweet texts he's sent me over the last year.
The stamps and embellishments are all from the SaleABration promotion and of course, all designed to work perfectly together.
Three simple heart punches make up the main embellishments of the photos here. Easy! Just a few odds and ends to make the middle heart a bit special and to add a title. Titles don't have to be big - just meaningful.
I love you, Robert. Thank you for being an inspiration.
And thank you, Stampin' Up!, for a fabulous new nautical range!
I started out with the idea of using the new Open Sea stamp set and doing a real vintage layout, but the photos just didn't flow with it. It's great out layouts evolve as the emotions behind the photos come to play. And the look of the photos themselves too.
So, I found some different ways to add texture other than inking and sponging. We've using sanding blocks on some of the edges here as well as added the new Baker's Twine and roughed up other edges.
Do you recognize where the inspiration for these tags came from? I had to change it up a bit to fit the layout and the punches I had. The cool thing, too, is each person in the class could change these up to fit their colour choices and preferences. I loved seeing each one come out with a slightly different personality.
We also used every single stamp in the set, which to me signals great value and versatility. Not only that, but it is masculine-appropriate! (and doing the guy-oriented stuff is growing on me these days . . . )
The two stamps from Fabulous Phrases here stamped directly onto the photo is the whole of my title for this page. It's small and subtle, but I like it. And perfect for the photo here of Robert putting the slimy bait on for me.
And also, just wanted to show that yes, you can stamp direclty onto your photos! It's a great look.
Next scrapbooking class is Thursday February 9th and we will do a love-themed page, suited for anniversaries or parent/child photos or any photos really of someone you love. Might even be able to sneak in a few flowers or something on that one. LOL
Thanks for looking! Please contact me with any queries or orders!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Open Sea, Fabulous Phrases
Colours: Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Basic Grey, Early Espresso
Other: Bakers Twine, Vintage Brads, 1" Square Punch, Neutrals Buttons, Hemp Twine, Large Tag Punch, Regals Brads, 3/4 inch circle Punch, Heart to Heart Punch
Last night was an awesome scrapbooking class! Thank you ladies for making it fun!
I took a layout idea from PageMaps (best scrapbooking site ever), and ran with the materials I knew I wanted to use. In this case, it was the Stocking Punch:
I hadn't really thought of using printed paper as the border, but it's a good look. Here I've used the Letters to Santa series. I had to give my ladies a quick disclaimer that although I did my layout in Blushing Bride, they could choose Old Olive, Marina Mist, or Riding Hood Red (which they sure did!) I'm the only one who has girls. And these Letters to Santa papers have all those colours, so it was no problem and neat to see how differently they all turned out.
These stockings are so darn cute! Anb who doesn't love a stamp set that comes with a matching punch? Quick and easy!
I did it the hard way, but it's quite simple to put the ribbon loops on these and then string them through string and away you go! A small diamond finishes it off nicely. The cool thing, too, about stamps is you can make these stockings in any colour you want - matching perfectly to the palette at hand.
The Timeless Type Alphabet also includes numbers, giving us the year here. The rest is a very simple layer of punched shapes, including the Triple Layer Doily.
The words were perfect for this - photos of my girls making tags for our annual Christmas plates. A very American tradition, I know, but a good one. We enjoy delivering treats and good wishes to friends and those who might not have a big Christmas.
I'd love to see your Christmas layouts!
Next scrapbooking is December 8th (Thursday) with a nautical theme in Bucklands Beach area. Join us!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Heard from the Heart, Baroque Motifs, Stitched Stockings
Colours: Blushing Bride, Old Olive, Early Espresso
Other: Ribbon Border Punch, Timeless Type Alphabet, Xl Scallop Circle, 2 1/2 inch Circle Punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, Heart to Heart Punch, Letters to Santa DSP, Stocking Punch, 1/4 taffeta ribbon
This is a relatively quick layout to do that I demonstrated at the Hamilton Quilt and Craft fair in September. Dianne can tell on me that I was finishing putting this one together on the floor before the show started!! It's that easy . . .
I've used the new, beautiful set called Creative Elements, which is another one of those sets that seem to have random, mismatched images in it. However, upon having a play, they do work together quite beautifully.
I've included an additional border using the Little Leaves die, cut into bits and placed behind my photo mat:
I sure like that flourish included in the stamp set too.
The embellishments along the side are using the Beau Chateau papers and the beautiful Lace Ribbon Border Punch.
The clusters of embellishments are the Frames Embossing Folder, the butterfly from the Creative Elements stamp set, a small heart punch (of course), and an Antique Brad (also of course - cursed be the day these are deleted).
Simple and Effective. We have a scrapbooking class THIS Thursday November 3rd at 7:30pm in Bucklands Beach. Join us!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Creative Elements set, Very Vintage wheel
Colours: Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Rose Red
Other: Lace Ribbon Border Punch, Satin Ribbon, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Frames Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestones, Antique Brads, Heart to Heart PUnch, Large Oval Punch
Last Tuesday's Scrapbooking class was a challenge for me - the request was Masculine. Lucky I had these nice photos of Rob and Bayley in my stash! The boys made efforts to come to church with us in August when Madeleine was giving a talk, so they were all dressed up and clean shaven. I wonder if men realize how amazingly handsome they look in church attire . . .
I was taking terribly photos last night!! I think I was ready for bed about 530!
First of all, the layout was taken from October's Pagemaps, a most useful website for any scrapbooker! I knew I wanted to use these pictures and I knew I wanted to use the new Mocha Specialty papers. So then it was just flipping through the catalogue and choosing which images and accessories would coordinate.
Most of the images are from the Forever Young stamp set - LOVE these pale tree images along the bottom of the page! I put two hearts on the Antique Tag - one for each of the boys. The little one is for Bayley with just a bit of glitter to the page. He's the type of boy who doesn't mind a bit of sparkle. None for his dad, though . . .
Now the words turned out quite cool. Very very pleased with how that worked out. They are from my favorite word set Word Play, but I've used a marker and omitted half the words. Have a look and see what it originally said and what it says now - a great and easy technique to manipulate and get more mileage out of your saying stamps.
When I asked Rob what sort of images to include on his page, he said "TOOLS". Well . . . . this antique clock will have to do.
I got the layering concept from my team mate and friend Paula Dobson from one of her really cool cards she shared at our last training day. All the layers were a little confusing for my class, but the finished effect is cool. Thanks Paula!
This paper from the Mocha Specialties is flocked, which gives a very rich look to the layout. Hated to cover any of it up! It's hard to tell in the photo, but the striped black and white ribbon is frayed on the edges and then inked in crumb cake. The fraying is another technique we learned at training in August. wow, I keep saying that . . must have been a great day!!
Hope you've enjoyed!
Next scrapbooking class has been moved to a Thursday November 3rd. Our theme will be Christmas. Come along and join us!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Forever Young set of five $48.95, Word Play set of twelve $74.95
Colours: Basic Black, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Other: Metallic Brads, Circle Punches, Window Sheets, Antique Tags, Heart to Heart Punch, Owl Punch, Black and White Striped Ribbon, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
I love these new hostess papers - Cheerful Treat! Using Concord Crush as the base colour, I've made up a very fun and happy Flip Album using Kelly Slattery'sbasic design. Thanks Kelly, for sharing!
I've taught versions of this album a few times now, and always the class gets boggled with how many flips and turns and pages there are. It's fun!! Lots of places to put photos and journaling.
On the cover we used Blossom Party die cut to layer up some nice flowers and the ladies chose a word from the Word Play set. I thought this one was nice and general and still fit in with the general mood of the album.
Next task is to create a 6x6 page for Shelli! Wish me luck!!
This is probably the busiest layout I have done thus far, but Kjirsti loves it and it works with the whole "party" theme. I've used the new Just Add Cake papers here - and there are a lot of colours in these prints! I chose to not use the blues and greens so much and still have plenty to work with.
The main embellishment is the Happy Birthday spinner from the Take A Spin stamp set. Easy to stamp in Early Espresso and just colour in a few of the images for a bit of interest.
I LOVE the Tasteful Trims die!! A must.
The small words down at the bottom corner of the layout are also taken from the same stamp. Can you work out what I have done?
The Title Tag across the top is also from the same one stamp.
I will be teaching this layout this coming Tuesday September 6th in Bucklands Beach. I'd love to have you attend - please email me to reserve a spot!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Take a Spin set of four $51.95
Colours: Poppy Parade, Pearch Parfait, So Saffron, Baja Breeze, Early Espresso
Other: 5/16 Neutrals Brads, Just Add Cake DSP, various ribbons, Game Spinner Hands, Blender Pen, chipboard sheets, Subtles Brads, Modern Label Punch, Alphabet Dies, Versamarker, Clear Embossing Powder
There isn't much stamping on this scrapbooking layout, but a lot of really neat techniques using Stampin' Up! supplies. I had a bright, fun layout in mind when I started, but this particular photo of Madeleine inspired a different evolvement:
The photo of the photo doesn't really do it justice. It's such a cute one. My father is an amateur photographer and lucky me - i have a box full of really great photos of my babes.
The journaling was done on acetate with an ink jet printer and then clear embossed. The "treasures" word was stamped on acetate using black staz-on ink.
The wet water effect is quite cool! All the ladies loved doing this and were amazed at the easy effect of clear embossing on acetate.
And those vintage tags are an accessory still available and also included in the new Idea Book & Catalogue (order yours here). And yes, the do come already "rusty" . . . antiqued is probably the more correct word.
And last I just wanted to show that yes, you can heat emboss on photos. I wasn't sure and took a big risk, but it does work . .
I'm loving the Artistic Etching stamp set for my vintage work - I've used it on my last three layouts. I stole this idea nearly straight from the Impressions magazine - the monthly ideas magazine for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. This is a layout "sketch" that can be adapted to be all themes:
The majority of the embellishments are clustered on the Top Note die in the upper left hand corner. Here is where you can play - just use bits and bobs you have around that match the colours and theme of your photo. Grouping them together makes a statement!
I really really love the Newsprint papers and am sad they are being deleted! The little newspaper details here and above and from that series. Easy accent!
I think I could buy stock in Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler.
Scrapbooking class tomorrow night in Bucklands Beach and August 18th on the North Shore.
I've been writing this blog post for a couple days now . . . school holidays and still being a wee bit sick has truly distracted me from my usual routine!!
This layout is the one I presented at Senz last month, and it was a hit. I love it it too:
I wanted to do a Vintage Style layout, but with more clean lines and less "clutter" for this one - and always always always making sure the photos are the centre of focus.
The decorative strip up the left hand side is made up of a combination of strips of printed papers (Love Letter series) and die cuts next to a roll of the Music Notes wheel.
The Spunch spiral Notebook Border Punch is quite cool for scrapbooking - that's the I've done along the tag to look like notebook paper.
A nice mix of ribbons and lace in the tag finish it off. I also challenged myself to use vellum on this one. Stamped with the Artistic Etchings set, it makes a nice backdrop to the photo.
On the the photo corner I've just used a Little Leaves Die, an Antique Brad, and a heart punch.
The leaves and the vellum are sparkled up just a little with a brushing of the Champagne Shimmer Paint - a beautiful "nude" shimmer.
Next scrapbooking class is August 9th in Bucklands Beach and August 18th on the North Shore. We will be doing a gender-neutral Beach Page. Book in today!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Artistic Etchings, Music Notes Wheel
Colours: Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Crumb Cake
Other: Little Leaves Die, Heart to Heart Punch, Antique Brads, Vellum, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder, Basic Pearls, Victoria Crochet Lace, Linen thread, Black Taffeta Ribbon, Spiral Border Punch, Vintage Trinkets
The Scrapbooking Class attendees challenged me last month to present to them a "young masculine" layout for July. And for a mother of three daughters, it was new territory.
Affection for the subject, however, brings about inspiration. As well as the gorgeous swap from Miriam Thomas (a 6x6 layout that I based this one from):
One of the benefits of using stamps for scrapbooking is the ability to create your own "printed paper" to match the theme and colour scheme of your layout perfectly. Here we've used the Extreme Elements stamp set to create a grungy look (as requested).
I kept mine quite light, but we did also stamp the same images in varying amounts on the twill. Twill is great for that - sort of a masculine "ribbon" but also you can stamp and dye it to suit.
Word Play is one of my favourite stamp sets and is just fantastic for scrapbookers. Looking at it again last night during class I had an inspiration for another masculine layout. And each of the sayings has the potential to be embellished, as we've done here.
I was so proud of the ladies! Not a single one of them slipped and slided on the acetate with their stamping! (Which was really good because I didnt' have any spare pieces. Phew!)
The title was fun and easy to do. We used the Bigz Alphabet with chipboard and Basic Grey Cardstock. I fiddled quite a lot with these taking them on and off . . .I didnt' want to cover Bayley's feet nor his cute belly button. Got there in the end!
If you'd like to make this layout, please book in for a class. And next month in the Bucklands Beach Class (August 9th 7:30pm) we will be doing a gender-neutral Beach Page. Everyone in New Zealand has beach photos - join us!
For the last eight months, we've had a lovely lady living with us, Pascale, from Switzerland. Just before Easter, she went back to her original home. (I say that because I'd like to think this is also her home now too). The girls and I decided to each make her an album page as a going away gift.
(The girls all worked on 6x6 albums over the summer after having a fun photo shoot together, so these were to add to the existing album she had started).
Each page we did reflected our personalities and tastes. This is mine:
I've used quite a few stamp sets on this one - partly because I was just using scraps that were on my desk. LOL
Two must have's for the vintage look - the Music Notes Wheel and the Beautiful Wings (butterflies) Embosslet. Wow, I use those butterflies SO much.
I discovered the Champagne Shimmer Paint doing this up. It's fantastic! Can you see it on the edges of the vellum and the leaves? Of course photos never do justice to glitters and shimmers, but it's beautiful.
My favourite thing - scrapbooking layouts! I designed this up to show at the Auckland Craft Expo last weekend, and I love how it turned out. Simple and clean but with a bit of detail too.
That photo - my eight year old Sofie took that with my mobile phone! She did well, didn't she?
The papers are the Blueberry Crisp collection. I'm not a "blue" person generally, but I do really like this combination. All the different blues in these prints make them easy to tone in with virtually any blue in the SU pallette.
This crocheted ribbon is lovely. The Vintage Trinkets include the safety pin below and the cute button brads above. All available only until Thursday (March 31st):
I set myself up for a potential disaster when I asked my two youngest daughters to write the journaling for me. Ten words to describe your mother. . . And by the way, that says "busy" not "lousy"!!
The stamping is done with an old favourite, Pocket Silhouettes. This one is one of the most versatile and well used sets in my stash. The journaling is done with Notes and Details from the Summer Mini, also available just until March 31st.
Try this layout! It's an easy one to copy and put in your different elements on each square as suits your style and theme!
Monday night we had a really fun Scrapbooking class - making this great little album inspired by Amy Celona. I wanted to use the PlayDate series of papers and embellishments - something fresh and fun and bright:
The cover is made with the On Board Mix & Match series - such fun shapes in there that coordinate with a number of stamp sets. Here I've used the flower stem and a ring and blinged it up with the SuperNova Glitter.
This is a great template that has loads of room for more flaps and pockets and hidden tags. So much space for photos and journaling ~
Narelle requested we do an album that had an envelope, so I had throw this in at the very last flap:
Now the PlayDate Quick Accents are perfect for finishing this album off. The words are from the Apple Blossom set, but otherwise there's no stamping on this project thus far.
It was fun to make this with you girls; thanks for hanging out with me!
It's been a nice break from the daily routines, but tomorrow is the start of school and all the rush that goes along with it. So back from la la land!
This is a very simple layout I did last month for a group who had never done papercrafting before:
I had (HAVE) a whole lot of those petals left over from my Christmas cards. Seemed a shame to throw them out especially when they were no nicely embossed with the Square Lattice Folder.
So we rearranged the petals back into a flower and matted them onto cardstock. Cheap, easy, effective. What more could we ask for?
