For some reason, making a book always seemed quite daunting. But after a class I took at a Scrapbook Expo in Seattle where we made an album with two sheets of paper, a needle, and thread (remind me to show you that one - it's cool), books are not so scary.
This one is reminiscent of those board books my children used to chew, I mean, read. Made with beer coasters, of all things, and then bound together with hardware rings, it's quick and it's durable!
The pages are covered with the lovely Walk in the Park papers. The stamped images are from the Great Friend Stamp Set, which is a real goodie that's only with us for a few more weeks.
I added a bit off accent with the White Gel Pen and a Half-back pearl for dimension.
Now it's all ready for some photos or some recipes or even as a gift for someone. These make a very quick little scrapbooking album and a great gift idea!

My personal challenge here was to use the Sticky Cuts on a layout, which turned out to be a lot of fun. And the popsicles were the perfect picture trio to put with it!
I stole the layout for this page from an old, old scrapbooking book, one of the millions that I have in my craft room. (hey, you just never know when you might "need" it).
I like the clean style here, the concentration of colour and the bang of the glitter, but set on the textured white,it's perfect.
The Sticky Cuts are basically a huge sheet of ultra-tacky double sided adhesive that has been die cut into shapes, letters, and numbers. Peel off the backing, adhere to the project, peel off the top "backing" and glam it up!
I chose to use the Latte buttons for additional embellishment so the title really popped out and the embellishments didn't overhwelm either the title nor the photos.
The rest of the layout is layered and torn DSP from the Sweet Always collection and a few stamps here and there from Always and Enjoy Every Moment. What do you think?

Pam made me laugh with this one because she is a self-declared non-scrapbooker . . . but she told me "scrapbooking page" kept popping into her head with this month's supplies of pretties kits and an assortment of cardstock. Good for you Pam for pushing yourself out of the comfort zone!
And this fits perfectly with my wedding theme for this week!
And how special Pam made up a page of her own wedding memories. A very creative, yet neutral background makes a great backdrop for the soft colours and elegant embellishments. The hat pins make such a great 3D accent on projects for a truly decadent finish - perfect for special layouts.
Love the journaling, Pam - what a neat layout!! And glad to hear that you enjoyed this - we may be on our way to do scrapbooking classes?? Well done!
Supplies used:
Backing sheet from Design Series Paper pack
Dress Pattern
Pink Pirouette. So Saffron & Sage Shadow Stampin' Up Cardstock
Due to computer problems, this was a very cool submission by our talented Ness Rogers that got missed during August. But it needs to go up - it's an amazing piece of work!
If you recall, in August the artists were given some Pink Flamingo papers and the Rose Red ribbon to work with. Ness has made this amazing scrapbook page and the detail is fantastic.
These tiny flowers along the bottom are made with the Pink Flamingo papers and then covered with a gloss and shimmer. The amount of handstitching on here is impressive!! What a neat border, Ness!
The larger flowers are also made with the same papers and also covered in a gloss and layered up with fabric for some nice texture. the photo is triple matted with Pink Flamingo with more stitching on all the layers.
I like the use of the ribbon as a banner for the title! Ness, I think you need to teach scrapbooking classes . . .
I love love love the train set! It's so stinkin' cute! Even with three daughters, I've found quite a few ways to use this one.
This set just calls for bright colours, in my opinion, so I went bold here and used Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, and Gable Green. Which worked out pretty well with this particular photo of Sofie.
I kept this page relatively clean; I think that's best when using quite vivid colours and when you want to keep the focus on the photo.
The Choo Choo set and the Right on Track wheel available only through November!
Supplies Used: Choo Choo set of five $35.95, Right on Track Wheel $13.95
Colours: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Gable Green
Other: Word Window punch, Linen Thread, Heart to Heart punch, grosgrain 1/4 ribbon pumpkin pie
This is a very cute and reasonably easy template shared with me by my downline Louisa Ting Chong. Isn't it fun!
I've used the backing board that comes in the Designer Series Paper packs as a base for this, and then covered it with the Tea Party papers. I love how happy that set of papers is. Make two easy spines and the book is pretty much done and ready for embellishment.
The front of this one had quite a few renovations, but I'm satisfied with the end decision. The big flowers are from the set Playful Petals, one that is so fun to layer and bling up.
The So Saffron ribbon is run under the flowers and tied to hold the book closed, and you can see why I rarely do bows on my projects.
I didn't get photos in there yet; my excuse was my hamstrings were so very sore I couldn't bear going up the stairs to find some photos! Yes, it's crunch time for me - please forgive my absent mindedness and weary look in my eye! Consider it part of the charm.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Playful Petals, Sweet Stems, Warm Words
Colours: So Saffron, Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Basic Gray
Other: Tea Party Papers, So Safron ribbon, corner rounder
Sometimes I like to challenge myself - make things harder than they really need to be! Okay, that's a core theme of my personality if I'm really honest . . .
For this one, I was asked to make a Masculine Layout, and I thought how cool it would be if I could make it using a traditionally "girly" colour and a floral stamp.
So it might not be really blokey, but it passes to all the guys I've shown it to.
Because the photos are of Jared and my middle daughter, I wanted to have a mix of yin/yang. The Almost Amethyst with the Chocolate Chip, the floral button with the shredded linen thread, the eyelet border and taffeta ribbon next to the distressed edges. I like the contrast!
I used the more grassy looking flower stamps from Pocket Silhouettes to make my own patterned paper and to make the oval embellishment. I've also stamped in tone on tone along the bottom, on the textured card. The image doesn't come out really clean and crisp on textured card, of course, which added to the juxtaposition theme.
Email me to schedule your scrapbooking only events!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes $39.95
Colours: Almost Amethyst, Kiwi Kiss, Certainly Celery
Other: Wide Oval punch, Eyelet border punch, Button Bouquet, Linen thread, Chipboard Letters, White Embossing Powder, White Tafetta ribbon, Distressing Tool, Double Stitched Chocolate chip ribbon, Heart to Heart Punch, Mat pack, Chocolate chip marker
This one was a lot of fun! I am learning to like and enjoy the "brighter" colour combinations these days. . .
I designed this layout based on a sketch by Becky Flick at www.pagemaps.com AND around the colour challenge from the Corrosive Challenge Blog! I really liked Karen's project on there and used her as my inspiration, too. Have a play! New challenge each week AND generous prizes!
The technique I wanted to teach here was the use of the Heat and Stick powder and our new, colouored glitters. And, as always, it's cool to be able to create the design to match and coordinate with the photos exactly.
This is my new favourite way to add journaling - print it out and chop it up. Adds interest and you don't have to get the printer and computer to cooperate to made the journaling and exact size, either. Easy peasy.
The embellishment medallion was made from a single stamp, just stamped in four different colours and layered up. I love how that turned out!
I/we made this layout in a class last week, and it's always neat to see how the ladies rearrange and change the colours and all come up with such different ideas and projects. I like teaching the layout classes especially for that reason.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Circle Circus set of ten $63.95, Happy Everything set of eight $39.95, Schoolbook Serif Alphabet set of 24 $91.95
Colours: Baja Breeze, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie
Other: Pigtails rick rack, mat pack, black marker, Fine Supernova Glitter, Corduroy Buttons, Heart to Heart punch, scallop punch, various circle punches, Heat and Stick powder
This is one of my favourite layouts to date. At first, I laid out the colours and images on the floor (yes, I work on the floor), and really had a brain freeze. It took me well over a week to work this one out, but I like it. Not my usual style and not the typical roughed-up Man Page, but bright and fun.
I presented this page at a class at Senz, and everyone did extremely well with it! I was concerned going in, but the talent and skill out there is amazing! Well done, all of you.
Don't you just love the Trendy Trees set? I do. Such fun images both for little and big boys and girls alike.
The bottom tree is popped up using the Boho Blossoms punch - a clever idea in one of the earlier Impressions Leaflets, the "magazine" Stampin' Up! sends to the demonstrators.
Enjoy!
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Trendy Trees $37.95
Happy Everything $46.95
Colours: Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip
Other: Mat Pack, Boho Blossoms Punch, Pigtails rick rack, Round tab punch, spiral punch, ribbons, Photo Corner punch, cutter kit
Well it's been a crazy busy week for me and it won't let up for a few days, so I apologize for the delay on the postings! I have a long list of things to put up - watch this space!
I had fun teaching the ladies over the weekend; I hope you all had a great time, too!
This layout is one that I taught as a class at senz. I didn't quite know how advanced to get with the stamping, so kept that part relatively straightforward, just using stamping to create custom background paper and also an embellishment. Then we used a whole lot of other tools to add a bit of pizazz.
However, my philosophy is that the faces should still be the star. I have found that uisng the Stampin' Up! coordianted paper packs is perfect - they all blend in seamlessly, not only creating an easy-to-design project, but because it's harmonious, the photos stand out.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Sweet Stems, Happy Everything, Short & Sweet
Colours: Basic Gray, Going Gray, Almost amethyst, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink
Every mother has photos like these! Isn't she cute? Especially when the memories of cleaning up such fun has eased with time . . .
I loved doing up this page and using the rather luxurious textured Designer Series Papers, Sweet Slumber. It looks complex due to all the prints (quite a few on this one), but it's really just layering up pieces of cardstock.
The stamp set here is called Live Like You Mean It, and it's a great one! The two step stamping sets can be used together for an "outline" and a "fill", or you can use either or separately.
The great news is you can get this set for FREE! All you need to do is host a workshop OR gather up orders between yourself and freinds that equal $350 or more. And bonus - you get $35 to spend on top of your free set as well. Contact me to set up a workshop and/or to find a demonstrator nearest to you.

This is a page I did up that was featured in the new, beautiful New Zealand magazine, Innovation. It's available at Scrapbook stores and online scrapbooking outlets. It's worth getting your hands on a copy! Very well done magazine.
This page features the Fresh Cuts stamp set, one of my favourites from the new product release in April. I have emboss resisted the "patterned paper" on the right hand side, adding in the colours I wanted to make the image pop.
The flowers are dyed with the ink pad refills (see a tutorial here) and half back pearls (also from the Pretties Kit) are placed in the centres.
I love my Sofie.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Fresh Cuts $46.95, Together Forever $46.95
My page features some neat Faux Techniques, Faux Silk, Faux Stitching, and Faux Buttons. Can you find them all?
The Faux Silk Technique is quite fun and easy, although it did take me a few minutes to get all those little flowers coloured in. All you need for this one is some tissue paper and a good glue stick.
1. Stamp on your tissue with a waterproof ink if you are going to colour it in and any ink if not. Colour if appropriate using a blender pen.
2. Scrunch up the tissue into a ball and flatten it back out, but not totally flat. You want a few wrinkles.
3. Spread glue with the Stampin Up glue stick all over a sheet of card (I've used whisper white here) and stick the tissue down over it. You can wrap excess around the card or trim to fit the card.
*By the way, I haven't put the journaling on this yet. Madeliene and I had a big run-in that afternoon, and I didn't want to writen when I was rather upset still. Storm over; I will add it today.
Supplies Used
Stamps: Sprinkles $28.95, Once Upon a Time $39.95, Perfect Princess $46.95, Pefectly Pretty Wheel $13.95
Colours: Bashful Blue, Perfect Plum, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Other: Five Petal Flower Punch, 1/2 inch circle Punch, White Gel Pen, various ribbons, Mat Pack, Perfect Plum Marker
Many of us LOVE to do 6x6 pages because they are so QUICK and not a far jump from doing a card!
I've used the Trendy Trees wheel in Chocolate Chip across the bottom and then added a bit of colour using the Stampin' Pastels. We don't always think to pull those out, but they are quite effective here.
The Trendy Trees stamp set is a slightly bigger tree than the wheel, and I used that for the embellishment, punching out the tree top with the Boho Blossoms Punch. That sure was easier than cutting out those tiny leaves!
Each artist was given a selection of Windsor Knot papers and Build A Brads. Can you see them on this layout? Ness has been very creative with her supplies!
The mat for the photo is part of the Windsor Knot series. Ness has layered it on a Chocolate Chip Textured card (tone on tone), but cleverly made a differentiation between the two by distressing the edges for a textured white edge.
The tree leaves are also cut from the Windsor Knot papers and then blinged up with a scattering of microbeads.
Ness has used just the domed stickers from the Build A Brad kit and framed her journaling block with them. She's added some stickers or rub-ons to the domes for a dash of colour as well. Very nice, Ness!
Thank you, Carrie Burke, for this lovely submission to my site!
I like to use of colour here. She's successfully mixed some muted shades and distressing with bright, bold images, which I think it quite a cool look. I also love how those flowers match just so perfectly!
Carrie used a sketch layout from www.pagemaps.com as her inspiration.
I found these colours very easy to work with! Honestly, anything with Chocolate Chip comes together quickly, though. And I am lovin' the new In Colours!
Keeping with the Eastern Blooms theme for the week, that was the main stamp set used here. I used every single stamp in the box!
There are four different ways of using stamps on scrapbook pages here:
1. Create your own background image. How often do we need a specific something or other to go with our project and can't find just the thing? Here's a very easy way to just make your own!
2. Create an embellishment strip with embossing. I embossed those Chocolate Chip vines onto Whisper White card. I tried it first on Baja Breeze, but it was just too "heavy" looking. So another technique is to emboss onto Whisper white and then just sponge on ink, giving a much softer, textured finish. I've left some "whiteness" here, too, to add to the effect.
3. Create your title and embellish a tag. Just a little bit of the Kiwi Kiss was all that was needed here. The small tag on the left hand side was also stamped.
4. Cut out your image and add a 3D embellishment. The arrangement of flowers in the corner add that final visual texture that changed the page from same old same old to "finished".
I am taking bookings now for May for Stamping Classes - Layouts, cards, and off the page projects available.
If you are coming to our big scrapbook day next weekend, Don't Look! (smiles)
My page here was a pleasure to make with the fun, new images and colour combinations! There's just something so inspiring about having a new toy. . . which is probably why this hobby is so addictive!
The page layout was inspired by Becky Flick at www.pagemaps.com - a great site for inspiration. I was going for clean & vivid just for something different.
I hesitated a looooong moment before putting black legs on Ms. Bird, but I think it looks just right in the end. I did add a dash of yellow to the mix for the beak, because I thought a blue beak might just look like Ms. Freezing Bird rather than swimming pool bird. What do you think?
The flowers were a cool embellishment using two sizes of oval punch. You can even use the "off cut" centres as flowers, too, but I felt they were too visually heavy for this layout.
Stamp Sets: Good Friend available April 1st
Colours Used: Riding Hood Red, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Barely Banana Other: B&W gingham ribbon, two sizes of the oval punches, 3/4 circle punch

Congratulations to Diana F. who won our February Creative Challenge!
I was so impressed with all the neat variations you all came up with on one sketch! Our judge had a hard time choosing, but ultimately decided on Diana's due to her "creative & personal story" behind the page. Well done everyone!
This is a fantastic little template a lovely lady named Carrie showed to us at last year's Stampin' Up! training convention in Sydney. I have used this quite a bit, and am pleased to hear that many of you have been as well!
One sweet customer, Lisa, told me that she made some of these up and let her daughter do all the embellishing, which is a great idea! What young girls (we're all young, aren't we?) wouldn't enjoy that? I'm thinking about the tween birthday party my eldest wants to have next month . . .
The first sample is one that many of you have made with me, using the Afternoon Tea Designer Series Papers and the Live Your Dreams stamp set (which is on the Bushfire Appeal list).
The second sample uses the Le Jardin papers and the Carte Postale stamp set (both on the retired list) and the third one - you'll have to watch the movie!
The basics of how this goes together is in the movie (mum's tv show, as it's called at my house) because it's rather tricky to explain in print, but easy to explain with visuals. The rest, the embellishing, is up to you! Enjoy!
